Places to visit

The Wilkarpay Forest and Its History:

The Wilkarpay Forest, located in the Peruvian Andes near Cusco, is a place of natural beauty and historical significance. The ancient Inca trails that cross it were crucial routes for exchange between Inca communities and led to Maukallaqta, one of the earliest Inca constructions. Walking these trails immerses visitors in Inca history and culture, surrounded by lush vegetation and stunning views. The discovery of Maukallaqta adds a touch of mystery, inviting adventurers to explore the grandeur of the Inca culture.

Development of the program

Prepare for an exciting horseback adventure! We will start by picking you up directly from your hotel and heading to our stables at the Molleray estate, located just 15 minutes from Cusco airport. Once there, we will introduce you to our Peruvian Paso horses and provide a safety briefing before starting our journey.

Each person will have their own horse and personalized equipment. Before setting off, we will familiarize ourselves with each horse and conduct a brief riding practice to ensure everyone is comfortable and ready for the adventure.

Our route will begin on a flat trail surrounded by fields of corn, potatoes, barley, and more. We will descend to cross picturesque streams and enter a eucalyptus forest, appreciating the daily life and landscapes of the Wilcarpay community.

We will continue our journey towards the Nueva Punacancha community, where we will pause to enjoy a healthy snack and take in the panoramic views of the mountains surrounding the Cusco valley.

After recharging, we will ride to the upper part of the valley, and from there, we will return along the slopes of the mountains, enjoying a typical Andean landscape.

Finally, we will return to the stables via an ancient pre-Columbian path known as «The Route of the Ayar Brothers.» Along this trail, we will be surrounded by eucalyptus forests and native trees such as chachacoma and queuña, enjoying the birdsong and the serenity of nature.

Upon arrival at the stables, we will transport you back to your accommodation to conclude our service.

This exciting horseback ride through the Wilkarpay Forest will be an unforgettable experience, connecting you with nature and Inca culture!
